First Friday Art Walk Tonight in Historic St Augustine
First Friday Art Walk in St Augustine Showcases new exhibits of art in over 20 different galleries from 7-9 pm each first Friday of the month. The walk is sponsored by Art Galleries of St. Augustine (AGOSA). Go to artgalleriesofstaugustine.com for more details on each month’s event and featured artists. Each Art Walk in the oldest city represents several different signature artists and their work.
Starting at the San Sebastian Winery with free parking availabe, get ready to explore St Augustine’s rich history through its art. This first Friday the art walk is partnered with a special live music event kicking off the first Friday in July. The Ancient City Brass Band will perform at 6 p.m. in the Cathedral Basilica, 38 Cathedral Place, downtown St. Augustine. The band is under the leadership of Cliff Newton, trumpeter emeritus of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The band’s program will be announced by Newton and narrated throughout the recital. The event is free to the public. You may make a donation through the offering taken up at the end of the production.
This Friday’s event announces the debut of artist Audrey Mae Bernhardt. Displayed works will include her original paintings and photography. Bernhardt studied art at Flagler College and is currently living on Anastasia Island working as a freelance muralist and fine artist. As noted by the St Augustine Record, “Audrey finds inspiration in the beautiful nature around her and the people whose paths she crosses”. Guests will be able to meet the artist at “Natural Patterns” gallery – one of the participating galleries on the opening night that coincides with the First Friday Art Walk.
