Navidad en el Viejo San Agustín (Christmas in Old St. Augustine) - 450 Years

Navidad en el Viejo San Agustín (Christmas in Old St. Augustine) will be presented to the public free of charge at the Mission Nombre de Dios on December 17th from 7-9pm.

Florida Living History, Inc.’s new holiday heritage event will feature a renactment of how Christmas was celebrated back in the 16th century. This will be another amazing event leading up to the commemoration of our city in 2015. The event presents living historians in period garb, representing the citizens of 16th-century San Agustín de la Florida as well as Colonial Spanish musical entertainment. In addition, a one-act, 16th-century Christmas play – Juan del Encina’s Egloga de las grandes lluvias will be presented, debuting in English. To add to the excitement amples of colonial Spanish holiday treats will be enjoyed. This event will be presented by torch and candlelight at the Mission and the Shrine of our Lady La Leche.  It is not only a holiday celebration but a wonderful representation of the city’s tradition and amazing history.
